Performance Enhancing and Antimicrobial Surfaces for all modern transportation types.
The Goal:
- Protect and empower surfaces, promoting hygiene and ease of care for all transportation types
- Reduce costs of maintenance and care
- Promote Appearance and Hygiene using less water or chemical agents
- Create activated antimicrobial areas that reduce germs 24/7, months at a time
- Enhance the performance, appearance and durability of surfaces against dirt, germs and environmental hazards
- Create hydrophobic (water shedding) surfaces that are easier to clean and stay clean longer
- Nullify odors while restricting molds, mildew, fungus and other destructive organisms
- Resist staining, corrosion and dirt adhesion
- Make it easier than ever to maintain great looking vehicles

Transportation Hygiene
Rental cars, public transit, cargo, commercial and especially personal vehicles can be a breeding ground for unpleasant and even dangerous microbes.
Transportation today not only transports us, but also the germs we live with. From fleet vehicles and cruise ships, to reefer units and the family car, our processes help keep occupants and cargo healthier, mitigate odors and airborne pollutants and even make surfaces easier to clean.
Anti-adhesion and antimicrobial, nano-particulate surface sealants go far beyond conventional compounds, outlasting and outperforming outdated technologies like waxes or traditional sealants to provide extended protection and easy application.
Our available technologies are currently utilized by select aircraft, marine and exotic vehicle manufacturers like Boeing and Lamborghini, as part of the factory delivery process and provide lasting protection from a variety of environmental hazards.
Dr. Anthony Hilton, director of another study on germs populations in vehicles by Aston University in Birmingham UK, was recently quoted;
“People would be horrified at the thought of eating off their toilet seat, but few people realize eating off their car’s dashboard is just as likely to make them sick”.

**Highest germ counts inside the average car**
- Food Spills
- Dashboards
- Cup Holders
- Seats
- Change Holder
- Child Safety Seats
- Steering Wheel
- Window Switches
- Seat Belts
- Radio Knobs
1. Food Spills
Ever drop your morning donut in your car, or spill a few fries on the passenger seat? If you didn’t clean the spot properly with a disinfectant, it’s now a hot spot for bacteria.
2. Dashboard
Car dashboards, along with food spills, had 10 times more bacteria than radio knobs or seat belts. According to a University of Arizona study, germs are deposited in this area as they moves through air vents located there. A great reason to have your vehicles’ cabin air filter treated with HealthyCar!
3. Cup Holder
You’ve probably spilled coffee or soda on your cup holder at some point and thought nothing of it. That’s why it’s third in terms of the places in your car with the most bacteria.
4. Seat
We touch it, we drop things on it and it’s rarely cleaned. Seats are a common spot for germs.
5. Change Holder
Change holders, frequently touched and sometimes spill on; another hiding place for germs.
6. Car Seat
As you might expect, greater numbers of germs were found in cars that carried children. Car seats not only pick up kids’ germs, but tend to be waste bins for their food crumbs, creating a great environment for bacteria.
7. Steering Wheel
Staphylococcus aureus, a common cause of staph infections, was found on steering wheels more than any other site, according to the UA study. Our hands are in contact with the wheel more than any other spot in the car.
8. Window Opener
Window switches are lower on this list, potentially due to resistant surfaces.
9. Seat Belt
Seat belts aren’t a hot spot for germs but it was the #2 most common place to find the bacteria responsible for Staph Infections, according to UA study director Dr. Charles Gerba.
10. Radio Knobs
Radio knobs had the least amount of bacteria among the car sites sampled in recent studies.

Public and charter transit:
Commercial transportation inherently represents increased populations of microbial threats, especially when frequently rotating passengers or cargo occupy the same space.
Public transportation systems can especially benefit from ICS’ Systems. Our coatings and available monitoring provides continual, increased microbial protection. Our processes also help protect employees working in these environments, from elevated exposure levels common in mass transit.
Becoming an ICS Certified transportation business lets your customers know that you take their safety seriously and sets your company apart from the competition. Let customers know your looking out for them by becoming a provider of HealthyCar Certified Vehicles!
