FAQ
- Becoming an ICS Certified HealthySpace means you take the safety of your building occupants seriously. Our specialized environmental services provide continual protection for the occupants of any space. We affix our seal in the form of small stickers that let people know that the space around them is continually reducing microbial populations and helping to protect them from bacteria, viruses, mold and more.
- The HealthySpace Seal, tells people you are serious about “clean” and that when entering your establishment, they can feel confident about your efforts to protect them from concentrated contagions. When people see the ICS Certified seal, they know your space is a safer place.
It all starts with:

Advanced technologies
- Organosilane or; Octadecylamine dimethyl tri hydroxyl propyl ammonium chloride
(18 Carbon and Quaternary amine)
This technology employs a microscopic, electrified “bed of spikes” which impale microorganisms on strands of carbon which pierce cell walls delivering a fatal micro charge of electrical current.
This Coating material is utilized in areas where antimicrobial populations are highest, such as common contact surfaces, Elevators, Bathrooms, Entryways and more.

- Titanium Dioxide induced Photo Catalytic Oxidation

This Coating material is utilized for its antimicrobial and air scrubbing properties at Interior areas such as Walls and Ceilings. It can greatly mitigate Odors of all kinds and also has excellent Exterior Anti-Staining properties. This Coating is also utilized in areas which benefit from hydrophilicity (water sheeting) and anti-fogging properties.

- Micronized Silicium ( Si14) Platelet technology
This technology constructs an armor plating of Si14 discs which both electrically bond to any surface and electrically repel microbes, dirt, oils, grease, most acids and virtually any liquid. These “discs” fill the millions of microscopic pores in surfaces, greatly reducing the microbe-harboring potential from many surfaces, greatly increasing clean-ability, stain-resistance, and moisture resistance. It is also a UV light blocker, protecting surfaces subject to UV degradation.
This Coating material is utilized for its microbe-blocking, maintenance-enhancing and UV blocking properties at areas such as Windows, Hard Surface Flooring and High Sheen Painted Surfaces subject to UV degradation. As a Water Proofer, it is utilized for protection of Porous Concrete, Quarry Tile Flooring and other indoor and exterior Surfaces.

- UV HVAC Systems and UL867 Ozone Free Bi-Polar Ionization
UV Light kills Microorganisms by disrupting the chemical bonds which hold DNA atoms together. CFM data, HVAC Chamber Dimensions, Building Footprint, Lamp Design and existing HVAC Plans are the primary components to providing effective, lasting results by closing the loop on indoor particulate-borne microbes or spores.
This Technology is utilized for its unique natural ability to destroy contagions in Central Air Systems, especially in Corporate Environments, Educational, Healthcare, and Senior Living Facilities. It also typically provides significant off-setting Energy Savings by maintaining cleaner Coils.
- Antimicrobial Dry Fogging
This technology uses a cutting edge, healthcare grade disinfecting ingredient in unique dry (complete dispersal) fogging or dry evaporative spray formulations, which disinfects literally every exposed surface in a space, including difficult to clean surfaces such as keyboards, the backsides and undersides of furnishings, office equipment, resident beds, lockers and much more. It leaves literally no residual material on any surface.
This Technology is utilized for its unique ability to quickly and safely disinfect difficult surfaces and spaces, and to comprehensively eradicate contagions which evade regular cleaning, especially in Offices, Open Offices, Education, Athletic and Fitness Areas, Senior Living Buildings, Retail Areas, Common Areas and more.
- Cleaner Disinfectant
Formulated with a Pine Quaternary combination, ICS’ Cleaner and Disinfectant effectively kills microbes and is uniquely formulated to correctly disinfect and prepare surfaces for ICS Coatings applications.
ICS Coatings continually reduce microbial populations and freshen air for months at a time. Disinfectants and Cleaners are only effective for a few minutes.
Disinfectants, such as Quaternaries, Phenolics and Bleach require up to 3 minutes of continual surface contact to achieve efficacy, per manufacturers’ directions. The duration of their efficacy can be less than three minutes, and stops as soon as new contagions are deposited thereafter.
That means that the Elevator Buttons, Door Push Plates, Bathrooms and any other high-contact surfaces are clean and/or sterile only immediately after they are cleaned, and are potentially re-infected at every contact.
This limited efficacy can result in the exponential spread of contagious microbes such as the Flu, Colds, or MDROs (multi-drug resistant organism) throughout buildings, between cleanings.
ICS Surface Coatings provide different solutions. Public facilities concentrate microbe populations in specific areas, and then subject them to a stringent breeding program which conditions them through natural selection to resist cleaning products and thrive within building environments. ICS Coatings fill microscopic surface pores removing microbe-harboring potential, taking away their home, and allowing you to take your building’s surfaces back from contagious populations. ICS Coatings perform mechanically, and thereby have no potential of ‘developed resistance’.
ICS Surface Coatings continually work to destroy microbes deposited on surfaces, including but not limited to MRSA and other MDROs, H1N1, Avian Flu, the Common Cold (gram negative and positive) and more, breaking these contagious microbes down to their organic molecular components.
These coatings also block mold or mildew growth, and literally protect your building’s surfaces while your staff works somewhere else. ICS Coatings have a manufacturer stated efficacy of 3 months on most surfaces, about 43,000 times longer than Chlorine or other disinfectants.
- Water-Based Long Lasting Active Antimicrobial Polymer Coatings for almost any surface
- Chemical Free, No VOC’s, No Respiratory Irritants
- Performs Mechanically at a molecular level, instead of chemically oxidizing Microbes
- Continually Destroys Microbes on Contact Surfaces, including Flu Viruses, Colds, MRSA, Salmonella, E. Coli, and more. Also blocks Mold and Mildew growth.
- Continually reduce potential Spread of Contagions between Building Occupants from Treated Surfaces, between cleanings.
- Discourage ‘developed resistances’ by using mechanical instead of chemical antimicrobial action
- Buildings concentrate and harbor communal health threats. Empower your building’s surfaces to stop harboring contagions, and to protect occupants continually.

No. ICS patented and patent-pending UV systems are custom designed for your system to provide consistent performance, and are easily integrated into existing HVAC systems. Our HVAC technicians will need a single access point and will not require any removal or reinstallation of the existing system. Additionally, our Technicians can train your staff on the system’s location, and future replacement of long-lasting UV Lamps.
Yes.
Despite widespread use of Hand Sanitizers, there is substantial documentation that the Common Flu and more virulent strains such as H1N1 are not contracted most often by hand or epidermal contact.
Many viruses are incapable of surviving on human skin for more than a few seconds, but can survive attached to particles in an air supply system or on common surfaces long enough to reach a new host. HVAC air supply systems and interior building surfaces can amplify this problem.
ICS UV technologies utilize existing HVAC systems to destroy microbes and spores entering the air system, in turn providing substantial energy savings by maintaining cleaner coil surfaces. These energy savings typically offsets installation costs within two years.
ICS Surface Coatings protect all common contact surfaces throughout a building, removing the superhighways which microbes travel during the flu season. The removal of the means of indoor microbe transportation results in an exponential drop of infection rates. Healthcare and Veterinary facilities have documented 50 – 90% reductions in microbe counts, and even 50% reductions in acquired infections.
CDC data reported that the 2004 Flu Season, which rated as average between 1995 and 2004, resulted in a 17% productivity loss for the year, for every U.S. employer. In 2009, 57 Million Americans caught the flu, almost three times the number in 2004. Making your building a safer and healthier space can literally save money and help avoid lost productivity, while protecting your occupants.

No.
ICS Surface Coatings are colorless, odorless, clear polymers which are molecularly charged to bond to virtually any surface. These coatings are imperceptive to the naked eye. Due to their molecular charge and composition, ICS Surface Coatings have higher bond strengths than virtually any other man-made coating materials. ICS Surface Coatings may be recoated with other materials such as paint or wax, and have no adverse chemical or staining effect on all common materials.
- Colorless, Odorless Water Based Polymers
- Coatings are less than the thickness of a human hair
- Higher bond strength than most industrial paint or epoxy coatings
- Coatings may be recoated with wax, paint, or other materials at later dates
- No adverse staining effects on almost any common material
ICS Surface Coatings have undergone extensive independent laboratory safety and performance review, and have long histories of safe use, and U.S. Regulatory Approval, including EPA and/or USDA acceptance. ICS’ Non-Bioactive Surface Coatings have been used for several years on virtually every surface of a leading international animal research facility with a continual recorded 50% reduction in surface microbes and 50% reduction in infection rates. These products also line marine animal tanks of the world’s leading marine theme parks.
ICS Bioactive Surface Coatings are registered with the EPA for all applications, have USDA acceptance for application on all food surfaces, and have a long history of safe use in healthcare and other facility applications. These Coatings are inert, with no evaporative mutagenic or carcinogenic ingredients, and interact with their environment mechanically, not chemically, and only at a molecular level. ICS Bioactive and Non-Bioactive Surface coatings are comprised of three of the earth’s ten most common minerals, commonly used in household items for years.
- No VOCs, No Chemicals, No Oxidizing Chemical Reaction or Evaporative Compounds
- Water Based, Non Leaching inert Polymer
- Works Mechanically at a molecular level, not by chemical oxidation which emits VOCs
Yes. We recommend you continue your existing cleaning protocols. Cleaning many ICS treated surfaces will be made quicker and/or easier.
ICS Surface Coatings provide continual antimicrobial or microbe-blocking protection, and soil-release technology, keeping surfaces cleaner between cleanings. ICS Bioactive Surface Coatings will degrade microbes to molecular components. These materials still need to be removed from the surfaces.
For Example: Door Push Plates and Windows will still be covered in fingerprints at days’ end in a busy facility; however, what once required a spray cleaner, which may be a respiratory irritant, and 10 minutes of scrubbing, now requires a cloth wet with water only, and a few seconds of wiping the prints free.
